first off.. not a rod knock. i took it for a 135mph run the other day and was fine until i stopped driving it later on that night approx. 1.5 hours later. only happens when engine under load. i have heard numerous reasons for this. wondering if you guys have some better advice. its a ka24de 218,000 miles yes that many but runs like a champ. no build up inside. dd with no issues in literally over a year besides tires some advice guys? thanks

Is it pinging (detonation) or knock?

well it just sounds like a truck... but i can hear a ping every once and awhile wen i rev with hood up cant ever hear it when driving its like the whole sound of my car changed nothing else. no power loss. ping was there for a while now. this sound just changed 2 days ago. pulled valve cover (see the nice paint job i did?) and found upper timing chain guide literally resting on the chain i was broken off. so removed that. hoped that was what the noise might of been but was not.

Does it sound like one cylinder making the noise?

With 218000 on the clock you could have some carbon buildup problems on the cylinder head .By the way have you checked your timing?

have no clue how to do the timing. i run cleaner through it often like every couple months and i seafoamed it like a year ago. so in your opinion my timing could have just all of a sudden gotten skewed? wouldn't that take time?

temp is perfect alot has been replaced almost everything besides internals really injectors, radiator, water pump wires spark plugs... could they have fouled under a high speed run like that? dist. is new. umm almost every sensor is new. cts, knock sensor, 1 of the 2 o2 sensors, umm damm trying to think of everything i have done... there is not really anything that i feel wrong just the sound.

You need to pull the spark plugs and see if it looks like the car is running lean.Could be a fuel mixture problem.
