Ok, so yesterday my engine began making a god awful noise, what it sounds like is knocking, however the compression is 150 across the board and visually the camshafts look good no missing lobes or anything.

The sound mostly comes when depressing the gas pedal the first inch or so, and i seems to do it both in gear and not in gear, with the clutch in and clutch out.

Any advice?

You can have a rod knock.

Sounds like it to me too. You'll have to pull the oil pan and remove the rod caps and check all the bearings to know for sure. Sorry man...

What rpm is the engine making the noise at? If it's around 3000ish rpm, you got issues that needs to be addressed.

the noise is most noticable @ 1000-1500 rpm.

I think i'm going to pull the pan off today and see what i can find.

I Sure hope its not bottom end:(

At this RPM and if it is knocking at the bottom end, your main bearings are toast and so is the rod bearings.

Well i dropped the oil, oddly enough there was no metal in the oil.I Have to pick up a new oil pan gasket and check the crank.

Thanks for the insight guys, Now if it is the rod bearings is it worth rebuilding?Where should i go for pistons, as the pulsar are high comp.

pistons could still be fine... visually inspect them. There is no USDM car that uses the same pistons, so you either need to find a set of used pistons from someone, or get aftermarket forged pistons. I would just replace the rod bearings (and maybe the main bearings if they are worn) and not worry about the pistons.

and the CA uses RTV silicone on the oil pan, not an oil pan gasket.

Rod bearings are easy enough to replace, I would just try doing them and see if that fixes your problem Good luck!

U sure it is the motor? Not to be off the subject, but are you running SR exhaust parts?

No my exhaust is custom made 2.5 inch i had made at a local exhaust shop, nothing fancy.

I have no idea where the noise i coming from. I'm taking to the stealership next tuesday if i don't have it figured by then.

This isn't entirely true. There is a rubber seal on the front and rear of the oil pan. If you go down to Advance auto and ask for an oil pan gasket, they'll give you a box with both gaskets and then a cork gasket for both sides. I used this on my car with a small amount of RTV and it worked VERY well. Much cleaner than straight RTV too.
