Knocking is reveres...

Hi I recently bought a 1991 240sx se. I have had the car for a few weeks now and have only put 41miles on it... I have noticed that when I am backing up I can hear a knocking/dragging sound coming from the right rear side. You can only hear it when I am going backwards. It sounds a lot like I am dragging my exhaust and that's what I first thought but my exhaust is bolted up and not dragging... I am kinda in the dark here and was wondering if anyone can give me a little insight to my problem before I jack it up, so I know what to look for.

I have also noticed that is does not do it all the time...

jack up your car and remove your wheel and visually inspect your suspension/brake system. most of the time youll find your problem with your visual inspection

its your rear brakes. your rear pads are missing the retainer that hold them in place on the bracket. i had the same issue on my hatch.

Check your driveshaft for play.

i have the same problem but all my brakes are brand new
