Knocking at front of Cam. Can Start Run Rev-up but there's noise.

My '91 KA just had its fornt & rear seals replaced, got new water pump, fan and rebuilt distributor. (got hit by truck and broke cap & rotor) I also replaced the spark plugs and re-sealed the valve cover. Now after putting everything back in my engine runs and timing is somewhat adjusted but there is this 'tak-tak-tak...' noise on the fron of the cam. Someone told me it was timing chain adjustment or something. I don't want to open up the valve cover again unless absolutely necessary. It'd be a pain to clean up all those gasket makers from the rubber gasket. I might even end up breaking my gasket.Could there be anything else why I'm hearing the noise? The distributor moves smoothly when I spun it with hand.

Thanks

Timing chain rattle aka tack tack tack is the upper chain smacking the guards. Open it up and remove the top chain guards before they break off and get eaten by the chain. It results in a scored oil pump, which results in no oil pressure, which results in you selling a shell in good condition $900 obo.

Guards/Guides, same difference. Top chain ONLY. Dont remove the tensioners.
