now ever since i bought my 240 (about a year ago) when ever i would come to a hard stop, right at the end of it i would hear a thump from the rear of my vehicle. i didnt think anything of it until i had my friend in the car and i made a hard stop and he heard it and said that my diff bushings might be bad....Anyone know if this is true or if anything else could be bad?

btw this is on a 95 240sx, abs, auto,vlsd, ~150K miles..

Either subframe bushings, or differential bushings, or both. I just replaced mine because of that problem, all bushings are aluminum now

Basically knocking will get worse, the rubber will wear away and you will heat it all the time. Subframe and differential can get dented out of form (after a really long time) and alignment goes out of wack, causing uneven tire wear

Thats about all I know

I hear a knock when I reverse (fast) and when I brake hard. I have 168K+ so I'm sure that the bushings are shot. Would I benefit with collars?

Hmm maybe , but if the bushings are shot, I would guess that might now help too well. Anyone else...Nismo_Freak what do you think?
