Knock/tick sound

Hey guys. The engine in my 92 240sx just started ticking. My exhaust mani has a leak so I know it's not that. When I'm driving and give the engine 1/4 throttle from 2300-3100 rpm it knocks. Its a faint knock. It's not very loud. If I'm in 3rd gear and get to 4k and release throttle it's super smooth, no ticking ratting knocking at all. Fine when I let off throttle but under load it knocks... It also sounds fine at idle...Guys have any experience with this? Any help would be dandee.

I'd suggest taking out your upper timing chain guides. One might be broken, or about to break. Either replace them, or leave them off. Search for Timing Guide Removal and i'm sure you'll find the writeup. My car used to make some bad ticking, took them out, and it's smooooooth.

I drove my car this morning and the knocking is at all rpm ranges under load. It's knocking bad, I'm sure it's a main bearing.

Rod knock most likely, main bearings are just gona sieze on you.
