I was wandering, Has anyone heard of a knock sensor picking up on an exhaust leak. In other words If I had a leak coming off my down pipe could it cause the knock sensor to think the motor was pinging or detonating? Thanks

I've never heard of it... I think the knock sensor listens for specific sounds (like certain frequencies maybe?) and I doubt anything as low as an exhaust leak could be heard by it. Its possible though.

p.s. my downpipe to o2 sensor housing leaks, but I get no knock sensor problems, so I would look elsewhere:)

Leaks can trigger the knock sensor, same with pronounced lifter ticking or other knocks.

what about a cold air intake i put mine in and that day my car started bogging down around 2500-3000 rpm and there was a noticable power loss across the whole power band.... btw i also have an exhaust leak due to a clogged up cat that i ended up punching out when i got my catback exhaust.... and i have a wierd ticking at idle sounds like someone tapping on the valve cover i saw on a forum that its supposed to be the timing chain....

Do you have a Ca18DET? If so, you don't have a timing chain...
