I'm new to Nico. I'm hoping some one can help me. My 1995 Quest displays a code to have Knock sensor replaced. . The car starts great but has soon as it goes in drive ore reverse it shuts down. I had it checked from a Nissan professional mechanic but could not come with a fix, he does not believe it is the knock sensor , as soon as the car reaches 198 f the stalling goes away. The problem is progressively getting worse with cold weather season approaching. Any thoughts?

From my experiences if there are no other codes then replace the sensor, but if you have a evap code repair that first and drive the car for a few days before doing anything else.

a knock sensor will not cause a car to stall. the codes for a knock sensor are either to say it is open or shorted and thus letting you know the ecm can not correct for spark knock. it is common for the idle air valves on that motor to cause some problems.wait to replace the knock sensor as it is costly to do. you need to find out the real culprit then recheck the knock sensor.has any recent engine work before the problem started bee done?

Finally, someone is making sense! The 1995 3L motor is supposed to come with a "bypass air valve" which acts like a choke in cold wether starts. I cannot locate it on the car. It supposed to be below the intake plennum. I have tried to connect an OBD but besides going to the a dealer i have not found a decent system to hook up. Everything I reserched with OBD1 and OBD2 they all start at 1996 and newer. Should I look at Fords?
