knock sensor

where is the knock sensor located in the 1996 infinity j30? does anyone have a diagram?

The knock sensor is located under both the upper and lower intake plenums. MUCH work is required to replace it. Some have either bypassed it or installed a new one in a relocated spot.

If anybody would provide a picture, or a set of instructions of how to take the plenums off and get there, that would be great... I know i am asking too much, but maybe somebody is doing it now and doesn't mind taking pics.

I know that we share similar engines with the Z but will that write work for our car, like word for word and part for part. I don't want to get into the middle of the job and then realize that some of the parts are in different places or that we just dont have it at all. Especially since that picture has Twin Turbo on it.

If your mechanical skill level is not to a point where you can improvise a little then DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD!!!!!

Very complicated and involved. Some dealers won't even do it.

Search for a post by a poster I believe named jertapper about KS relocation. As mentioned, do not attempt to take the plenums off and replace the KS yourself unless you are an expert mechanic.

The better option is to buy a new KS on ebay (50 to $100), buy a new harness from the dealer and re-locate. Jertappers posts has photos on where to relocate.
