today, I filled my 96 I30t with 91 premium from chevron and the car started acting up with bad acceleration and when idling the car would shake and bounce. no CEL has come on can it be the knock sensor?

Well, don't know. By the way you phrase it in your post, I'm guessing you usually use 87 grade? The car should run smoother with 91. Could be getting used to running the 91. give it a day or two, and open it up on the highway, and see what happens.

Okay, maybe so and the knock sensor is getting used to it. so I'll just drive it around for while, but if this occurs every time i put gas in would it mean the sensor is bad?

odd, use 89 majority of the time and have no issues at all. go get a free code check at autozone. if it turns out to be the knock sensor ebay it and save 150 bucks on it

Could very well be the knock sensor because if it goes bad, it will not throw a CEL but it will store a code. Run it to autozone and see what they tell you. If you wanted to save some more money, go to Radioshack or any electronic store and pick up some resistors equvilant to the resistance of the knock sensor which is usually 500-600 ohms and wire it in between the ECm and the sensor and the ECM won't know the difference.
