Huh? Even my RR SR20DE uses the same knock sensor.
Check engine light will not come on for a knock sensor, but you will get a code 34 out of the ecu.
The harness for the knock sensor is a single shielded wire running directly to the ecu. When the piezo element detects sound of certain frequencies it will generate an electrical charge to the ecu.
