Interesting problem. Seems sometimes my engine gets really shaky and slow at high rpm (above 5000 or so), and other times its much smoother and faster. I'm also getting a knock sensor code (though I've never heard any detonation, and shouldn't be getting any as I run 91 octane and have stock pistons). So could that be the problem? If so, can I just run with the knock sensor unplugged without any adverse effects? I have a 91 240.
