Hey guys,

As per TT.net, I'm going to relocate my KS to the back of the engine while I have my engine out. There's plenty of writeup about it, but nothing really about removing the lower intake. After the upper plenum is off, do I just unbolt and remove the lower intake? And when I put it back on, do I need to replace any bolts or just the gaskets?

Thanks!

The lower plenum comes off after you remove the idler stud and the top bolts. Under it you will find 2 gaskets and the KS, they are metal so inspect them and replace if needed. I would honestly just try to get your hand back there without taking the lower plenum off, since when you remove the idler stud or pulley to completely remove the lower plenum you will also have to realign your timing belt and such. I just did this and its not too hard but not the easiest.

With the engine out you should be able to reach the KS at the stock location. I just replaced mine with the engine out/egr unboltred.

As it happens, the engine will be out, timing belt will be getting done, as will the idler studs. I also happen to have a full engine gasket kit. So I'm thinking I might just pop off the lower intake, but I'll decide that once I'm in there.

One a side note, I'm going to be replacing the 2 idler studs with the heavy duty RameyZ ones, but what about the auto tensioner stud? Doesn't that need to be replaced too?
