Just hooked up my SAFC, and it is saying that my knock at idle is around 100!! I cant hear anything knocking around. My injectors seem really noisy. This is my first SR and just wondering what kind of knock numbers you guys are getting. When I really pour the coal to it I reads as high as 220-240. That cant be right?? I would hear it for sure. I searched and found that the SAFCII has a crap knock sensor anyway. Maybe I didnt hook it up right. The sensor only reads in the Knock setting in the Settings menu. Not on the moniter menu?? Am I missing something. The knock is very inconsistent. Should I be worried. Another thing, I just switched to sythetic Mobil 1 and noticed after put the 5 qrts (Greddy oil pan) and let it run for a minute the Oil light was one. I has gone off and hasnt come back as of yet. Any suggestions.

Anybody?? I have looked for knock numbers on the SR and couldnt find any. What are you guys typically seeing. The car runs fine. All stock w/ front mount and HKS actuator

Nobody has any advise?? I would think from that knock reading, something should be coming apart, right. Just looing for typical knocks ensor readings. The car runs strong and has no bottom or top end noise, not even at full boost. Should I ignore the knock sensor?? Just want some advise so I can relax. Thanks fellow NICOians.

pull your spark plugs, If there is any white its knocking ! I dont think I set up my safc2 write as it only hit 5 at idle and is at 0 most of the time and 0 at 20 psi @ redline. You could try 1 step colder plug if its white and run fuel injector cleaner and octane booster from nos !

I just checked my spark plugs the other day and they seemed to be a blackish tan color. I was told this was the way they are supposed to look. I will try and pull them again tomorrow and check again. The guy who had the car before me used Champion plugs and I'm swapping to NGK and see what happens. Should I be worried or not?? Thanks

I dont know what to do, lol. I like to drive the car becasue of gas mileage (I have an f250 crewcab deisel). I have not set the knock up on the SAFC. The reading is coming in on the etc. menu on the Sensor check menu?? Not even sure if it is reading correctly. I assume that the reading on the sensor check measures the voltage on a couple of other sensors (throttle potion??) and the knock reading, which I assume is the correct knock reading. Do you guys know what I speak of?? I am experiencing no power lose at all. Could it possibly be the SAFC setting. I have added fuel to richen it up in an attempt to calm the knock down. It is running noticably more rich than before. If I pull the plugs and they are as they should be, what should my next move be. Thanks gentleman

Just got done messing with the SAFC and got the knock down to about 25, whent he car is just started but after I drive it around a little while the knock will be anywhere from 35-60 at idle It is around 60 on the highway out of boost. The car is again running perfect, a little rich, but great. The knock is still at anywhere from 60-140 ish at redline?? Havent pulled the plugs yet I will in am. Could I have a knock sensor going out?? IT is acting a little nutty. But no ECU code. I just dont want the car to suffer but I love to drive it.

The knock seems to be worse when you are just creeping the RPM's up out of boost?? I thnk that my sensor is wrong. I will pull the plugs to confirm but I would hear an audible knock at that level and well as a noticible power loss at those kinds of knocks. Thanks for any advise in advance.

I dont mean to ramble, but I love this motor more than any I have had before (RB, 4G63, LT1). Just being overly cautious. I should have swapped it myself I hate dealy with everyone else's S H I T. You cant trust anything you didnt do yourself.

First off have you calibrated th knock sensor to your SAFC2? You must do this via the setings menu (I think) It will tell you where to rev and hold your revs and then just lock it in. Another thing, if your getting that much knock, there could be a few things that could cause this...-Grade of gas-SAFC2 needs to be calibrated-If you have access to a wideband, need to add fuel at certain points-Check timing!!!!!!!If this knock does not go down w/the above steps, try retarding your timing 1-4degrees and see if this changes you knock.

Just pulled the plugs, the tips are clean the bottom of the plug is black. I figured this would be the case. I am running pig rich. The knock is still all over the place and I think it is due to the knock not being calibrated?? I dont understand how to calibrate it so I think I am just going to stop looking at it. When I was changing the plus I noticed that none of the coilpacks had the screw holding them in. And #1 and #4 have had the bnolt snapped off inside the valve cover

Just an update....I changed to NGK7's and calibrated the knock sensor and everything seems fine with the numbers. I am getting no knock at idle when before it was 70ish. Thanks for all the help

After a couple of days of driving the car since calibrating the knock sensor, I have found that the knock is anywhere from 0-8 at idle and goes down to between 0-15 at wide open throttle. This isnt bad is it?? I thought that I read somewhere that anything near 70ish is bad. Just wanting some cinfirmation. I did drive the immortal hell out of it for the first time since I got the car, and I was very impressed. No speed limiter, lol.
