By some sort of miracle I found an 88 pulsar at one of the junkyards and I snagged the knock sensor plug. When I wired it up, I used a 24 gauge 2 conductor wire with shield (copper) "audio cable" that I got at radio shack.

During my reading of every post that had "knock sensor" in it, I found a thread that told of how to hardwire the sensor to the ecu. I disconnected the battery first. I spliced the KS plug and one of the conductors in the wire, twisted them up, soldered them and wrapped them in elec. tape. I then ran the wire through the firewall and connected the conductor to the wire in pin 23 (after i cut the wire ~3 inches from the harness) and grounded the shielded portion to the 3 ground wires by the ecu that you splice together when modifying the harness.

I'm still getting code 34. Ive tried using different grounding points. As of right now, the splice at pin 23 is exposed and the ground wires arent wrapped either. Would that affect its reading? Am I using the wrong type of wire? I dont have any of the shielded wire from the KA to use, but I read a post that said you can use any type of shielded wire as long as it can handle the flow. I also bought some 18-4 "fire alarm" wire. it has 4 conductors, foil shield and braided strands that i may try instead. Maybe my KS is no good.. i neep help. All these problems I'm having seem like they should be simple fixes, but i'm still getting nowhere and id like nothing more than to be able to take this car for a drive. i cant really afford to take this car to a shop to get these problems fixed, so i'm hoping someone here will be able to help me.

below are some pics of the wire that i'm using. i cant take pics of how i wired the sensor because it's too dark, but i will take some tomorrow.the top 2 pics are of the wire that im currently using. the bottome two are of the other shielded wire i have available to me.

when trying to clear any code, while doing the repair you should always disconnect the battery to give the ecu time to reset itself. If not it will take sometime for the ecu to clear itself.

yea, i always disconnect the battery whenever i deal with wiring things up. i guess it just took longer for the ecu to clear itself.
