Ok I finally got down to finding out the problem with my 34 code.

I test the knock sensor with engine off and I get 500k ohms

With the engine on I get a reading of about 800k-900k ohms

So I’m assuming that this means that my sensor is ok and that I don't have to replace it. So if this is the case then I have a wiring problem. So my next question is Are there any common spots of failure for the KS wiring? Are there any spots I can test? I ask because it goes into the main harness and it looks like a hell of a problem to trace it back.

So is my problem bad wiring or bad sensor? I'm thinking the wiring is the problem. Which i fear is alot harder to fix the replacing the sensor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

There are 2 things the typically happen to cause the knock sensor code. The plastic shell on the sensor cracks and the other more common problem is a poor connection between the knock sensor and its sub harness. The usual repair is to replace the sensor and the sub harness attached to it. The subharness is about 12 inches long it goes from the knock sensor to a connector on the main harness.

As I said there is a subharness from the knock sensor to the main harness. The main harness is what goes to the ECM. you can test it the main harness but you need to be very good with a volt meter and creating your own circuit and do voltage drops on it.

You were right, it was cracked go figure.

Now I have to reset the ECU. Is there any other way then leave the battery unplugged for 24 hours?

And how can I check the code to see if I did fix it?

My friend doesn't have the code reader anymore. This is why I ask

On another note check out my pretty red valve cover
