knock sensor problem

so i had some issues with my car not rnning rite... so i checked the codes... and got a 34 det sensor.... i checked the continuity and had nothing. os insetead of rewiring it all i just threw in a one megohm resistor between the #23 and 20 pins on the ecu. i drove it around the block reset the ecu and same thing still and same code also...i havnt checked continuety yet on the resistor cuz i dont have a multimeter with me today... any ideas? i checked the local auto stores and they diddnt even know what a knock sensor was or couldnt find one with the part numbr

Just rewire it. Make sure you use shielded wire. that's about the only other thing you can do.

why did you put a resistor in?

do you know how a knock sensor works?

Wire up the knock sensor, bypassing it w/the resistor isn't a very good idea. It's not hard to wire it up....

sooo damn easy to wire....just snip it, and run a new wire inside to the knock sensor wire on the ecu (get a diagram at plxdevices.com)

alrite thanks just one more question if i hardwire to the ecu do i need the ground that wire?
