Knock sensor on KA24E

I had a turbo Z and if you did not run premium gas you got detonation and that ball bearing in a can noise. It had knock sensor to cut ignition if it detonated. MY pick up is making that noise, if the knock sensor goes out will it do that or am I way off base. Does it at medium load or lugging, and sometimes at a full load. I can hear it from cab. High pitch rattle sound. Where is the knock sensor and how can I test if it is okay, or am I off base. What happens if that sensor goes bad? Thanks

I'm not sure if any KA24E's have knock sensors. I think the DE's have them.
