knock sensor oh knock sensor *shm*

so i changed the knock sensor on my 93 ka24de, the sub-harness was missing the negative so i made one, after that i checked the voltage coming out of the main harness with the knock sensor unplugged , one ground and the sensor wire showing 1 volt with the car on engine off. i gone to another car that knock sensor works i checked his main harness both showing ground with the knock sensor unplugged. i can not find anywhere that says how much voltage should be going threw the cable with the car on engine off.people say with the engine on at idle it should show 3 volt i cant even turn my car on to even see whats the voltage. TLDR: what should be the knock sensors main harness voltage be with the knock sensor unplugged.

Voltage isn't what you need to measure on the knock sensor. It's resistance. You'll need a multimeter than can measure up to 10 MOhms. Even then, what you're really checking is for ground continuity.

As for adding the ground back in, that was un-necessary. KA knock sensors run a single shielded wire from the sensor back to the ECU.

The only thing that I've found in the FSM (EF & EC page 157) is 2.5V with engine running @ idle.

I haven't seen anything with Engine off.

i understand hijacker, i need to know does that single wire that goes to the ECU give power when the car is on engine is off. i checked another car that the knock sensor is good and both wires on the main harness show ground. mine shows 1 volt on the wire that goes to the ECU. can anyone verify that???
