Took out my knock sensor and I only found one wire hooked into the harness is this correct? I see two wires coming out the other end of the harness. Where and how much would a new harness be?

The harness/connector for the KS has two wires.

I'm not sure what a replacement would cost...but if it were me I'd try to repair the existing harness first.

I tried already...its completely busted. I have a feeling the PO or a mechanic tried to repair the harness once before as there is evidence of it.

Just curious, did you pull the intake manifold to get the knock sensor out?

No I didn't and I can't understand why anyone would go through all that work? I used a swivel wrench with a 12mm head and untightened it enough to do the rest by hand. I then reached my hand (in a tight leather glove to avoid cuts) in between everything and undid the bolt. I pulled the bolt out and then the unit. I bench tested the 133k mile knock sensor and found it to be working perfectly. So I went today and bought a knock sensor harness from the Nissan dealership for $26 and plugged the old knock sensor on with the new harness and touched the knock sensor to ground and read the codes. Perfect! But since I had bought a new knock sensor I just put that one on. I repeated the process except it was difficult to get the KS into place and then put the screw in. So I put a small piece of electrical tape over the screw while it was inserted into the KS. Then I positioned it tightened it a bit, removed the tape, then tightened by hand and then with the wrench. All in all, I would say, if I had the parts I needed at the time I did it, it wouldn't have taken me more than an hour. I think that beats taking the intake manifold off.
