knock sensor harness frayed, getting knock sensor code on ecu

I keep getting the knock sensor code on the ecu and I looked down there and noticed that one of the wires that's going to the knock sensor plug connector is frayed off almost right at the connector... would this cause the code to show up and is it retarding my timing in any way because of the broken wires?

I would say yes that frayed wire is causing that CEL.

tiger, did I read in another post you also had 11 and 21. I have a frayed knock sensor harness and it is setting a code, can it also set 11 and 21 (since they are in the igniton circuit)? Tiger, will your car start and run? Where is your wire frayed?
