Hi Guys!I just checked Ebay. Nobody sources a 2000 i30 knock sensor. Does anyone know of a good source, other than the dealer?

Thanks!Brit

I find that hard to believe. I bought one for a 1996 a couple days ago.

here's a whole page of them. I bought mine at weidaparts (or something like that) for $18.00. Works just fine.

I should have said reliable ones. I heard there are problems with some of these.

Precisely. I was troubleshooting (treating the symptoms empirically) so I figured it was worth the gamble. It fixed my problems -- if it only lasts a month, I'll know what the problem was. But hey, if the $18 part lasts, say, three years, it would take more than 21 YEARS before the OEM part would have made more sense financially. The original (assuming this was the original) didn't last that long -- only 13 years anyway. But I've heard testimony of a relatively long life.

Just an FYI, at least 2 forum members who bought cheap KS from eBay have had problems with it. Make sure the KS resistance is 550K ohm. There are some quality KS from trusted sellers on eBay.

Replacing a KS is doable but not easy.

I did mine in about 20 minutes. two extensions, a 12mm universal swivel, and my 14 year old daughters small hand. I didn't even remove the air intake plastic. And I am exceedingly unmechanical. check boredmdr on youtube for great no-nonsense how-to vids.

I have seen several of his How-To videos and they are VERY HELPFUL. But note that most of the activities seem to have been setup prior to the actual video shoot. In reality, you may need WD-40/P Blaster and a good amount of leverage to free up sticky/rusted bolts/nuts. And you are lucky to have a daughter with small hands.

Of course credit belongs to this guy for sharing his experience.
