Knock sensor for '01 QX4

My '01 Qx4 (125k miles) is in the shop for a few repairs including a coolant leak such that the area where the knock sensor is exposed. Mechanic says Infinitis have issues with these sensors and suggested to replace it while access to it is relatively easy with engine disassembled. I'm not inclined to at this point even though accessing the sensor is labor intensive if it goes out in the future. Are there known issues with knock sensors?

My 98 Q is throwing a code for a knock sensor malfunction right now. No drivability issues though. If the price is right it might not be a bad idea.
