hey guys, a few months ago my car overheated and blew the radiator. so i replaced the thermostat and radiator and put in some new coolant. My car drove fine for about a month. but this time when my car started to overheat again, i was about a mile away from work so i figured i would push my luck and try and drive there. As i was exiting, my car shuts off, so when i go to turn it back on, it wouldn't start. so i try again and it finally starts but emits a huge puff of white smoke out the exhaust. I thought, oh great now i have a blown headgasket. SO my question is, can my knock sensor be the culprit? i checked my waterpump and it seemed fine to me. I ran the little DIY cel test and it came up with knock sensor and egr (testpipe). i'm thinking of running no thermostat at all. any suggestions?

well their are a few ways to look at this, if you already had the check engine light about the knock senser then your timming is probbily off which when the light come on it enriches your fuel because its thinking its running lean, all this will cause extra heat i dont think it would cause overheating but anythings posible. if the light came on after you over heated it then probibly you got the engine hot enough to damage the senser or somthing leading to it. if this is the scenario then getting it hot enough to blow the radiator then you probibly did damage to the entire motor. final if you run the car with out the thurmastate it will be running to cold that all times exspecily in the winter. this will also damage your motor try compretion testing your motor if the results are good then do a coolant presher test if everything reads good then......... good luck
