knock sensor cable question

went to the junk yard and got a knock sensor cable off a j30 and where it connects to the sensor at there is only one wire >???
is this normal because the sensor it self has places for 2 wires so im stumped here :confused:

The one I got from Shark has three wires on the end that plugs in back by the firewall and two where it connects to the Sensor.
Clip facing up the orange wire is to the left and Yellow to the right.

A piezoelectric element creates a voltage signal.
So there is only 1 wire on some and 1 shielding wire old school style.

I don't know exactly whats wrong with your car, but when I was getting a knock sensor code I soldered up some resistors to 550k ohms to trick the system and it has worked fine ever since. According to alldata the knock sensor should be "Approximately 500 - 620 K Ohms at 25°C (77°F)" so I went halfway with 550k. Hope this helps in some way shape or form with whatever you are doing.
