Knock sensor bypass

Ok i know everyone is goin to tell me to just buy a new knock sensor but funds are a little limite! I have a 95 nissan with a mostly stock Ka and plenty of miles. I got a check engine light for knock sensor and rear heated o2(rear but in front of main cat style). My thing is i want to bypass the knock sensor for now cuz im sure the ecu is bein really conservative on timing right now. I can set my timing myself if it knocks a little and i run pemium fuel anyway! I heard you can use a 1 mega ohm resistor to bypass, is this true? Also can i bypass the rear o2 somehow? What is the point of the rear one anyway? I have no smog tests where i am so that is not a worry! Mainly just dont see a point in puttin money in a motor thats gettin yanked out this summer, just want good gas and performance till then! Thanks for any reply's

You can't bypass it. The knock sensor always "detects" knock by sending a voltage signal to the ECU depending on the output of it's piezoelectric device. Therefore, if the ECU gets no voltage, it assumes your knock sensor is busted, it doesn't check for an open circuit like most components.

Damn it! Thats what i figured.... I guess i will shovel out the $130, anyone know where i can get it cheaper than that? Also just to make sure it doesent go bad again, what usually causes a knock sensor to go bad? Except fpr my 170,000 miles! Anyone have the answer still about the o2 sensor question?

knock sensors just go bad after a while(100kmi or so), it's a general maintenance item.
