Hey, I have a 90 z32 N/A. The knock sensor was diagnosed bad by the previous owner. He used the bypass mega ohm resistor trick. Not knowing if he got the right one, i went out and bought the resistor myself. Stills runs pretty ****ty around the 2-3k range. Just wondering if you need a different resistor for the N/A because all the write ups seem to be on turbos. Thanks.

Why not get a new knock sensor? there there for a reason and to prevent detonation..

A. The Sensors Location/ TIME!!!B. The sensors cost. Resistor was a dollar. Sensor is like 80.C. This aint a turbo motor, I highly doubt there will be knocking.D. If i detonate this motor into high heaven i dont care. TT swap time

Maybe describe the symptoms around the range you say it doesn't run right. That may have nothing to do with the bypass done. If the KS is bad, it retards timing so it should just be maybe a little more sluggish but still run fine.

I would describe symptoms of "running ****ty" as, bogs alot. mis-fires. once i get above 3k or below around 2k it runs ok.

Have you pulled all connectors to make sure they are free of corrosion? Very frequent problem. (Coolant Temp Sensor,CAS, PTU, Injectors, AAC)When you pull the injector connectors, test them with an ohm meter and see if they read between 10 and 14 ohms.

Ok. Well long story short. The guy I bought it from swore he was 100% sure it was knock sensor. He already did the bypass. Drove it with the sensor actually plugged in and it seemed worse so i figured it was possible. I bought the resistor and installed. Still not running right. Ohm tested the sensor and harness as described on zhome.com write up. All checked out. Checked the ECU codes like should have been done in the first place. o2 code. Soo.... im hoping o2 is whats wrong. Better than replacing knock sensor. Kinda pissed I wasted YOUR time and MY time on my poor knock sensor. Hope i didnt hurt her feelings. But yeah, dude was trying to Upsell me a clutch install... Right. What a joke.
