I would like to bypass the knock sensors on my early model 1999 Q 45 and fully understand the risks of damage to the engine.

I located the 8 pin connector with 7 wires leading to the engine valley area. When the connector is separated I receive P0325 and P0330 codes when in normally operation I receive just the P0325 code. The question is which wires do I connect the resistors (also what ohm rating) to emulate a good knock sensor? I purchased a new harness to replace the old one when I get around to changing the knock sensors. The sub-harness has 4 connectors; 2 with a single white wire at the connector and 2 with 2 wires at each connector.

Thanks!,

Ritchie

you might want to post in IOM in future (fgy33 help there) as opposed to NOM.

if you well understand the risks, then you must also well understand that putting 550kohm resistor there will not give you back the full ignition advance that you would get with properly functioning ks.when the ECU fails to hear the expected engine sounds in the 3000+ range, it will not allow full advance.

some here have changed ks on the fgy33 without removing plenum.of course, by removing the plenum and cleaning intake to spotless, changing ks, and replacing the underplenum hoses, you restore performance back to spec.

As I was looking for your response I realized I had posted the question to the wrong forum. Sorry about that. No I did not realize the by-pass would not allow full performance, but as a temporary fix this is not a major concern. It appears on this model the single lead connector goes to the knock sensor. If this is the case, does the by-pass resisitor go to ground?

Any advice on where to purchase the KS?

Thanks for your input,

Ritchie

hey, i in turn neglected to welcome you to NICO. i think you'll like it here, best online resource for the G50 (1st gen) and now the FGY33s as well.

yes.yes.most here are partial to IoS 888-216-5328. they are still ~$130 each with our NICO discount.on ks, whatever you do, don't buy 'brown box'. these are marketed as 'OEM' but are usually the B grade sensors that Nissan rejects.there are some genuine 30p00 ks perodically on ebay. horsepower 281 was selling them for 68 each to your door, but i haven't seen them for a while.

Thanks for all of your advice, it is so much better then going it alone. NICO is great and I look forward to providing some advice someday.

Happy New Year to all,
