EEK this is not a fun job. Judging by your post date its possible you got this done. However for the rest. The knock sensor is located below the intake manifold in the valley of the motor. The harness runs to it over the back of the manifold. You will need to remove the intake plentium and the intake manifold to get to it. Along with any items attached to the manifold. For the novice its an all day job. For the professional its about a 4 hour job.
Hint: the 2 coolant by pass hoses attached at the back are a bear to get off with out damage. Soak the lips of the hoses with rust penetrant to make them easier to get on and off.
