Hello,

I did a search was unable to find the answer to this question perhaps you can help me?

Is the check engine light illuminated when there is a faulty knock sensor?

A few weeks ago, the check engine light came on so I checked the ECU and found a code 32 and 34.

Repaired the code 32 when I found a cracked vacuum line and replaced it. Since that time check engine line has not come back on.

In the next few days, I am going to clear the codes, and I do not know whether to check the codes again if the check engine light remains off.

Thank you for your time and consideration

Yours truly,

Quash

Code 32 is injector leak if memory serves

If you have more than 100k, id dare say your o2 sensors are going bad...

32 is EGR. The vacuum hose was the one between the solenoid and EGR valve? Check the codes; KS are probably in there again.

Hello Dead,

Yes it was one of the hose between the solenoid and the EGR valve.

Check the codes today and the 32 is cleared . However, as you pointed out the knock sensor code 34 is still there.

Do you know if it is appropriate to run regular gas now that my timing has been decreased 12°?

I have not decided if I'm going to change the sensors and harness myself or have it repaired at a shop.

I think I may replace the air conditioning compressor first since Summer almost upon us. At some point after that deal with the knock sensor issue.

I would feel much better keeping the octane at 91. With summer temps and the crap gas we live with already, it's probably worth it. The knocking you can't feel is the most dangerous to the engine.

Ok

Thank you for the advice, I will remain with the 91 octane .
