My car started to die at low rpm or "misfires". Engine light came on with 2 error code (P0100 andP0325):Knock sensor 1 and Mass air flow sensor code error.

Should I try to clean the mass air flow first since it is fairly easy?If that does not work, should I replace the MAF or do something about the knock sonsor (that seems to require a lot a labor).

Thank you in advance for the advice.

Year/Make/Model please.

Knock sensors are a big deal to replace. I am starting that job myself. It's called a "plenum job" and most use the opportunity to replace all the under plenum hoses and gaskets as well as the knock sensors. The complete plenum kit from Joe @ Infiniti of Scottdale is about $500-600 range. That's alot of hoses, gaskets, and the knock sensors.

The MAF sometimes is just the harness not making good contact. On mine I can just wiggle it when it starts running rough and it will go away.

By the way, the "Plenum" is the spider looking intake manifold on top of the engine.

Bad news. I cleaned the mass air flow sensor and the car still dies or misfires. Moreover, in addition to the konck sensor and mass air flow sensor code error, I am getting the shaft position cam code error.

Any advice?

Shoul I start by buying a new mass air flow? Is it possible to just replace the sensor and not the whole thing? How about cleaning the fuel injector with BG 44k just in case? Or using BG Air Intake System Cleaner?
