Can you actually HEAR knock? I am having some weird issues, so I decided to try and look into them today.

-Fixed temp sensor issues by rewiring it. Reset ECU-Tested the ECU for codes w/ car off, Code 55 YAY!-Start car, revv it, check codes while running...55 YAY!-Take it around block. Bogging, crappy idle, etc-Check ECU with car running, Code 34 :(-Resetting ECU as we speak (again)

So here is my question: I have no downpipe, is there ANY way that could freak out the knock sensor at all? DP should be on as soon as I get the damn gasket in. I can't hear any "knocking" noise, so I am at a loss. Any ideas? I want my baby running perfect:(

If you can hear it, you're getting some serious knock - much of if is masked by other noises, especialy with an open exhaust.Invest in an EGT gauge and a something that can monitor knock readings.

If you've disconnected the battery for a lentgh of time, the ECU will "re-learn" settings and such, it will be a bit rough for a short amount of time.

Got ya. Thanks for the info. So there is no way the DP can cause the knock? I am running 93 octane and 8.5psi. Is knock really that easy to make happen?

O, just hooked everything back up and started it. Code 55. We shall see...

A leak or no DP can trigger the knock sensor.

The knock sensor is pretty sensitive. I think an open DP would set it off. Generally you won't hear the knock though, not unless it's knocking really bad, and if it is, then you've probabally already done some damage to the motor.

You'd be hearing some gnarly detonation :(

I was thinking that at 8.5psi and 93 octane, knock shouldn't be an issue. Too bad my gasket is commin from Heavy Throttle. They take for freaking ever shipping stuff. :(

One more question: will just the DP be enough to clear this issue up? I really don't want to put my stock exhaust back on unless I have to. Test pipe and NUR spec or BRM should be in the next 8 weeks or so.

put the stocker back on. It's not that big of a deal. You'll be glad you did.
