I had a tapping sound and determined that it was sticking lifters. When you don't have enough oil pressure, the lifters will stick and the cam lobes (?) will knock into them. Sure enough, I checked my oil and it was off the dip stick. Front crank seal had a major leak in it and was squirting oil all over the passenger side of the motor bay........even my wheel was oily!!!

Changed the seal and BOOM! no ticking or tapping or popping or anything. It's been fine ever since.

jeansguy - maybe i will change my vavle seal... when i have the time... i also need new bolts on that thing... i think i stripped one of the bolts... one guy said to just get longer bolts and have nuts on the bottom... then tighten them that way... just dont over tighten them like i did before... changing the seal sounds like such a simple fix for that annoying ticking noise... but i guess if it works it works... ill probably do that when i do my timing chain thing... damn sohc engine...

RAP - with that $2000 you could get an SR with that... but to get a rebuilt engine seems pretty tempting... hehe... but before i shell out $2000 ill wait until my engine blows a cylinder or something... so far 170k... thatll be a while i guess... ill just use my money to maintain my car for what its worth for right now... hope this car lasts me until it gets totalled... which i hope isnt any time soon... i love this damn car too much... but anyways... thanks for the insight...

i hope to get these in the next few months... hopefully before the end of the year...

timing chain - most likely never changed and really chewed upwhiteline bushings - my car ride is pretty bumpy... probably need something else as well... i see a silver bar go down to my wheels, but i see nothing around it... well the rubber is all worn out and into pieces... i see straight silver metal... i think springs should be there or somethingfuel injectors - dont think they were ever changed, pretty sure owner before me abused the car =(... probably pretty dirtytires - im starting to bald on my front two tires... hope it doesnt start raining soon before i start hydroplaning

oh yeah, forgot to mention when i do the timing ill probably do the seal as well... since so much will be off i might as well seal that as well... also was thinking about some under drive pulleys... but i shouldnt be wasting my money on things i dont need... just trying to maintain my car and keep it running as long as possible =)
