Anyone use a knock link? I know some people on the WRX forums have used them but I have also heard someone say at some point that they could actually hear the knock before the sensor whent off. Personally I would like to be able to detect knock before I can actually hear it. Anyone think it is worth the ~$150?

I was actually just going to purchase one tonight but decided to hold off as I wassn't sure about it myself. MSD's model seems to have an adjustment for sensativity, which depending on the level maybe useful, but im not positive. I believe summit racing has it for $150 shipped. Details can be found at http://www.subarustore.com/msdenknocal.html

Here is the one I was looking at. http://www.vividracing.com/prod_knocksen.php Why is it that this seems to be a suby thing? I heard all about it on NASIOC.com and nothing about it here or the honda-tech.com.

Edit: After looking the MSD seems to be better and cheeper

do your motors have a knock sensor??

if so can you not just wire a LED in line to the ECU that way when the sensor detects knock it signals the ECU and on its way the signal will light up the LED lights, thus informing you of DET!

i thnk this will work, i had an MR2 guy tell me they do this alot.

@ badass240sx: all S14 SR's should have a knock sensor from the factory :) your car will run like $hlt, if it's not installed or not working.

Shouldnt S13's have one too? I assumed they did have a factory one so the ecu could pull timing if it detected knock. Assuming they have one I still wanted to get an aftermarket one so I would have two. Better safe then sorry. Also, I like the sensitivity adjustment of the MSD one.

Actually the car runs fine without the knock sensore as mine is broken. I have it detuned and listen and drive it like a granny. At courtesy nissan they are only like 30 bucks. I keep forgetting to go pick one up. It pulls timing if detected but at the sametime if your driving it to the edge then it is Fu(king fast. I dont recommend driving without one....matter of fact thanks for reminding me. I need to go and pick it up tommorrow.
