knock from the head!

I have a knocking sound coming from just under my valve cover. it sounds like like i spun a bearing but its coming from the top end. my friend says that i screw up a lifter or something like that. any ideas anyone

need more info.engine type, what were you doing right before it happened? what part of the head? front,back,left,right side? post anything you can think of that could help.

actually i listened to it again today and its coming from my exhaust mani. now i do not have any kind of exhaust except the manifold, not even a cat.

very easily could be a blown exhaust manifold gasket. Check and see if you have all 8 of your exhaust manifold bolts. They like to break off for no reason, and that causes leaks.

I also had the same prob. When I swapped my head my friend who was working exhaust side forgot to screw in the o2 sensor.
