hi

well i gave in my crank to let it be balanced and knife edged , i wanted them not to make them so sharp and leaf a .5mm of the flesh over on the top of the cranck , but they didnt do this!!! useless guys over here in SA..

what do you guys hink must i try it cause im going to lose torque but i stroked it so it would atleast make up for torque aswell as the biiger pistons!!

Hmm... might as well try it. I'm not familiar with crank work, but if you can put it in as they've done it and it runs, it's worth a shot.

Was it dynamically balanced for the new heavier rods and pistons?? if not it wont last long. Make them pay for a new one, I doubt it will last long.

well yes i suppose it was dynamically balanced cause you give in every thing , pulley, pressure plate, crank, pistons and conrods

i stroked the crank and hardened it, so it should be too much of a problem weight wise and strenght wise...

Well, if they took away most of the counterweights it cannot have dynamic balance, its only good for the drag strip and regular rebuilds.

Mike

Almost forgot, was it an 8 weight or a 4 weight crank??

WHY DO YOU THINK IT WOULD NEED A REBUILD NOW AND THEN,, CAUSE IF ITS GOING TO SEIZE BEARINGS ALL THE TIME BECAUSE OF IMPROPER BALANCING SOMEONES GONA GET THEIR KNEES KAPPED!!

WELL THEY CHARGED ME FOR IT!! SO IF I GET ANY SUCH PROBLEMS I WILL HOLD THE ENGINEERING RESPONSIBLE, IT WAS A 4 ITS THE STANDARD SR20DE 54J FULL CRANK

Well without a pic I can only guess, but you said most of the counterweights were gone, unless I mis understood. Try http://www.sr20forum.com , search for butchers crank or knife edging, there are a few piccies of it done right on there with some knowlegable answers about the use and benefits and problems when you do that to a crank.

Explain to me how you are going to lose torque with a lighter crankshaft and less windage.
