i dont think you can register it as a kit car anymore but i think you can still register a car as a Track car, which means you can only put on a certain number of miles on it.

so if i were to keep rolling back my odometer every week i would be fine. ( not that i would ever do that). or would it be the kind of car that if a cop sees me driving in he will be able to give me a ticket or fine me for not using it as a track car?

just to save yourself a lot of trouble, get a s13 coupe, convert it to rhd and put in a RB25.

I like this idea, except for the rhd.

it seems like everyone has a different idea. some are risky and others are even more risky. if someone here had a skyline and it wasnt registered what would you do that would be the safest way to go about registering it. and yes i want a skyline not a silvia or a 240. i want an r32 gtr skyline. thanks

well you can't legally have a r32 in the us so go fish if you want it to be street legal. I heard that scamron used to pull vin plates from 240sx donors and then register the car as a 240sx...but it is your *** if you get caught.

You can legally import r33's, but it is expensive to federalize...

I have heard that canada is the way to go fo a r32...but I'm not sure...

Good Luck

You dont register them as kit cars...you register them as grey market vehicles... There are at least 3 companies in the USA that imports the bodies separate from the motor and you put them together and register it as grey market. THen you can drive it here...

Pretty sure that in most states, to register as a grey market vehicle it still has to meet federal EPA, DOT and Customs requirements. To register as a kit car that truly would vary by state. The "true" grey market vehicles are the legal ones that motorex brought in. The kit cars are the ones of suspect.

And we all know that Motorex is no more. So what are the other 2 companies that you speak of?

More misinformation.

Gonzer, not true.

Guys, please, please PLEASE read the thread, less than 1/2" above this one, which clearly outlines all of the FACTS about importation of Skylines.

Actually, to register it as a track car, you have to show the dates, event's and places that the car will be attending. And if what I read a couple years ago is still fresh in my 30 year old grey matter, it's only good for one year...not worth it in my opinion...I wish I could remember where I read that....damn.

And it's not just Skylines...it's any imported car that can't be legaly registered.
