What's up everyone,
I'm actually not an SR owner (big surprise) but some of my friends are including my roommate and have many years of experience with them and have built a few as well. Saw these little guys on ebay a while back when I started building my CA and even though I opted with an FP Red for it, I never forgot about them. Did a little research and found some good reviews of some various models and considered one if I ever started another project. So the other project never came, I joined the Marine Corps instead. Well a buddy of mine had his T28 finally crap out and I showed him these and he bought one. This is just a little thread I'm starting on here since when I was searching them back last year none of my results turned up here to this forum. The turbo is a Kinugawa TD05-18G and I'm going to upload a few before and after pics and do my best to give my opinion and insight on it's fitment, what kind of power it makes on the butt dyno and it's response. Hopefully this thread may help some people if/when they consider purchasing a new/upgrade turbocharger.

Ok, I'll try to upload some pics tomorrow. I'm filthy and beat lol! Either way, the car is extremely quick. I'd say it's tipping the 300 mark right now @ 1 bar. Full boost around 3200 or so in 4th. This turbo hits like hammer, with a little more boost this turbo would seriously rip. Install wasn't too bad, only had to modify the oil drain tube by shortening it about an inch and 2 of the supplied studs for the turbo-to-manifold were a little to long and had to be cut. Comes with all new steel braided lines and AN-Banjo fitting with all new hardware as well, only problem is it had no line to attach to the coolant line that runs behind the head but the stock hardline bolted right up using one of the supplied banjo bolts. My amateur opinion, well worth the $750 (shipped) that it cost.

Mods to car are:
OE rebuilt red top SR20DET
Cometic gaskets
ARP head studs
JWT S3 cams
Greddy valve springs
Supertech valves
DW 550's
Nistune
Z32 MAF
Megan turbo manifold and downpipe
3" muffler shop exhaust
Greddy FMIC

16g, 18g, evoIII 16.... all "rip" on the ca18
car gets faster as u crank up the boost, with the mitsu turbine housings, but a ca oem mani may then become a bottleneck
$750 on a china turbo? kinda risky for most I'd guess

Ebay hit or miss. I bought a ebay t3/t4 from a guy who pulled it off his rb25 just after we returned in the car. No smoke or shaft play, seemed worth my $100. Out of curiosity I measured the wheels. Identical to a td06/20g rather than any of garrets' specs.
Seen one sxoc member ca18 ripping with his ebay t28.... a couple on ns.com & one sxoc even with the "big T-70"
Who knows what you're getting

Well this is on an SR and I only posted this in here (as well as in the SR section) because people are ALWAYS asking "Is this turbo any good". I did a little research on them a while back and found all great results, just on Suby's and DSM's. So with very little information on their performance and reliability on our Nissans I figured I'd make a post in both sections just to answer the questions of the possible consumers of this turbo, since it's GT-RS style fitment, and bolts up to our (as well as SR's) engines.

To further agree with your post, I noticed Kinugawa offers a TD05 with a 60-1 compressor wheel. After a little more research I found out that its identicle to an FP Red which anyone with DSM knowledge or experience knows is a badazz. With their positive reviews elsewhere and there performance that I've experienced I think it may be a quality performer and while I am a Garrett/Precision/Borg Warner fan this little guy may be prove to be a great and affordable addition to some people's builds.

I've used one of these turbos (well the CHRA anyway inside some old genuine Greddy/Trust T518z compressor and exhaust housings) iv been running 18-20psi...I'm allways hammering it, skidding up 3rd gear bouncing off the limiter etc. It's still
as mint as it was when I put it on 9months ago. They truly are a high quality turbo unlike a lot of Chinese gear. My local turbo shop even agreed with me that kinugawa's quality is right up there and that's party due to the fact there made in Tawain part of china which apparently turns out generally better stuff from there factory's. They also ship out the item fast and packaging is Very very good and professional.
