What's up everyone,
I'm actually not an SR owner but some of my friends are including my roommate and have many years of experience with them and have built a few as well. Saw these little guys on ebay a while back when I started building my CA and even though I opted with an FP Red for it never forgot about them. Did a little research and found some good reviews of some various models and considered one if I ever started another project. So the other project never came, I joined the Marine Corps instead. Well a buddy of mine had his T28 finally crap out and I showed him these and he bought one. This is just a little thread I'm starting on here since when I was searching them back last year none of my results turned up here to this forum. The turbo is a Kinugawa TD05-18G and I'm going to upload a few before and after pics and do my best to give my opinion and insight on it's fitment, what kind of power it makes on the butt dyno and it's response. Hopefully this thread may help some people if/when they consider purchasing a new/upgrade turbocharger.

Ok, I'll try to upload some pics tomorrow. I'm filthy and beat lol! Either way, the car is extremely quick. I'd say it's tipping the 300 mark right now @ 1 bar. Full boost around 3200 or so in 4th. This turbo hits like hammer, with a little more boost this turbo would seriously rip. Install wasn't too bad, only had to modify the oil drain tube by shortening it about an inch and 2 of the supplied studs for the turbo-to-manifold were a little to long and had to be cut. Comes with all new steel braided lines and AN-Banjo fitting with all new hardware as well, only problem is it had no line to attach to the coolant line that runs behind the head but the stock hardline bolted right up using one of the supplied banjo bolts. My amateur opinion, well worth the $750 (shipped) that it cost.

Mods to car are:
OE rebuilt red top SR20DET
Cometic gaskets
ARP head studs
JWT S3 cams
Greddy valve springs
Supertech valves
DW 550's
Nistune
Z32 MAF
Megan turbo manifold and downpipe
3" muffler shop exhaust
Greddy FMIC

Ok here are some more pics and I'll try to talk bout them a little as we go.

Here you can See all the nice new steel braided lines it comes with. They seem to be a excellent quality, fit very well and come with all necessary hardware. The advertised kit is complete as advertised and solid

Image

We didn't have clocking adaptors so we just modified the intercooler pipes

Image

The turbo we had was not a true T28, it was the T25 replacement/upgrade from Enjuku. Not bad turbo, actually made good power but it didn't hold up to 16psi for long. It held on for bout a year but in it's defense it was certainly used lol.

Image

Here is a shot of the new studs in the Megan manifold. The back two were a little to long and had to be shortened but that was a quick and easy fix.

Image

Installing the dump after clocking the turbo. Had to clock the compressor housing about 10 degrees clockwise to clear number one exhaust runner. Used the 3 supplied studs for the dump as well. Everything fit together very well.

Image

Here's a shot assembled and about to be installed so everyone can see fitment and clearance.

Image

And here it is installed. Clears everything very well but would have been nice to have had the turbo clocking adapters. By the way, it made removal and installation very easy by removing the coolant neck and master cylinder.

And here is Harry (the SR owner of the house) as we start pulling the cams out to swap the Jim Wolf S3's for a Jim Wolf C2 intake/C3 exhaust combo. Hopefully this car will rip hard afterwards though it ripped like hell with the S3's already. Target power is 350whp on pump 93 with this turbo and whatever it makes on race gas (for drift events) is a bonus. Looking forward to you guys comments and feedback, yes... even flaming too lol

Well the weekend didn't end so hot. The car was a terror until one of the pulls we made uprooted the headgasket. Not sure how or why but we'll know soon enough I guess. More than likely this weekend if BAC permits lol. I'll try to remember to stay on top of this little build but so far the turbo is pretty bawse, now let's see about it's longevity and reliability
