Well, I've got a new job. Trouble is, this company (which does road construction primarily) hasn't won a bid in like six months, and I don't get to start until they win another bid. Kinda sucks, since my gross income would increase by %110 if I could start for them. The big thing isn't the money, though. It's not like I'm broke and sleeping under a bridge. There's a lot of back stabbing and a lot of people at my current company don't get along. It really blows when you're working in a negative environment. I found out today the company I want to go to lost two bids on Friday and there won't be another coming up for three more weeks. I hope they get something going. The sooner I start w/ them, the sooner I'll have a turbo setup under my hood and a new paint job. I'm not trying to whine or anything, I just needed to blow that off because it was a let down.

why'd you take a job when you don't even know if you will even get to work for them?

I still have a job, and I'm technically hired by the other place too. They just won't put me on payroll and let me come aboard until they get busier. I'm not gonna tell my current boss about my other plans because he has a history of letting people go before their notice is over if they wanna move on to greener pastures. At least not until I'm gonna have somewhere to go. It sucks when they say we're gonna put you to work for us, and give you twice as much money as you're getting now, but we don't have anything for you to do now. My buddy who got me through the door used to work with me at the place I'm at now, and when he gave his two weeks notice, my current boss didn't let him come back.

Does Colgate have a place in Louisville, Fred? I've looked at some entry-level lab tech jobs, but most of them pay about what I'm making now with my surveying job. Honestly I don't have any lab experience since I got out of school, and I've forgotten a lot of what I learned there.
