So, I'm about to change the fuel filter in my '89 240 because it's the original one from the factory, I noticed that one of the fuel lines going to it seems way too long, and the hose clamp on one end of the line looks fairly new. I just wanted to know if theres any ill effects to shortening the line, light now it's kind of bent in a U shape all the time and won't fit neatly in the engine bay and wants to sit atop the intake manifold.

This is probably a simple yes question, but I'm still new to working on cars and I didn't want to do anything I wasn't supposed to.

I dont know if there is but if it started to burn the tubing I'd suggest getting a shorter sized tube. Be careful when changing, never done it before myself.

Just remember to relieve the pressure before opening the fuel line or you will get a face full of fuel.

(Don't ask how I know this)

There's no ill effects to shortening the fuel line to fit better.
