Just picked some up and wanted to ask a question about how to use. It says to insert into the center vent but on the 97+ cars there is a screen behind the center vent that would prevent the tube from being inserted more than about 3 inches. does that matter? I expect that it will drain down but will it cover the evaporator (correct part?) in the HVAC box?

any ideas?

thanks!
Andy

Wonderful stuff Andy, I have used it numerous times, along with the brand sold at every Toyota parts dept for under $20......do not pump it down the center vent if you can not snake the tube in at least 12-18 inches as you want the foam to hit the evaporator face and expand THROUGH its fins to clean the debris and mold in between the fins. In your case, I would either remove the darlington reaistor and pump it in or drill a small hole the size of the plastic tubing included with the klima kleer into the evaporator box next to the resistor and empty the entire can into the evap. box- then plug the hole with a rubber plug or piece of duct tape.

You are much better off taking out the glove box and spraying it directly on the AC evaporator...

You should be able to take the darlington resistor out and see the evaporator.

I agree but I am not sure if its any harder to remove the glove box on a FGY33 (1997-2001) Q45 than it is on a G50 (1990-1996) Q45. Either way I like the glove box removal idea because the evaporator is just right there in front of you once that is removed.

just a FYI.....the advantage to the toyota kit or the einszett kit is the ability to snake the long tube into the evaporator box without having to remove glovebox/resistor etc to get to the evaporator......if one is going to remove the glovebox/resistor to get to face of evaporator, then here is a BIG money saving tip for all my Nico brothers......home depot/ lowes sells a coil cleaner expanding foam made by FROST KING for only $5.99 a can{big can too, 19 ounces}....picked up 2 cans last week, not sure if I bought them for the Q evaporator AND condenser cleaning OR to give to my brother in law to use on his 2 home condenser units which look filthy and full of dirt/grass clippings

Andy, a thought for you.......why not manually switch vent mode to feet/floor position{ keep ignition switch to "on" so it stays there, and insert the plastic hose into pass side floor vent under dash.....it is closer to evap face than top center vents too!!!!!

I like the floor vent idea. i'm trying to avoid a mess and would like to insert the product into the car as is. I'm going to experiment right now and do the floor vent on my wife's car. will report back.

This sounds a lot easier than removing the glove box. I've cleaned my evaporator with a soft bottle brush but it only cleans the surface. The spray can sounds simple and effective. It's added to my Home Depot shopping list.

My personal opinion is that you are not going to be able to get the evaporator very effectively unless you go at it directly..

The evaporator is the 2nd thing in the air's path.. starting at the blower... So i think its pretty unlikely you'd be able to fish it effectively at the evaporator...

If you're gonna do it do it right, the glove box should only take like 10 mins to remove...

For the Y33 guys you could also consider taking out your cabin filter if you have one, the evap should be right after that....

Technically, the passenger vent would probably be closer to the evaporator...

Take a look at page HA-19 and tel me you think you'd be able to effectively fish a hose around to access the evaporator...

My car smells like a rancid and stale fart when I first fire it up after running the AC. Will this affect my ability to attract hot chicks?

Ah done replaced dem filters last summer. Ifin I goes after them agin, ahm gonna blast that recepterator unit with some WX90. Or something. Where can a humble caveman such as myself obtain such miracle astringent?

I need to do this on the G. It develops a yearly stench that smells something like garlic bologna that was left in the meat drawer of a refrigerator for a few weeks. Frigi-fresh is a great cover-up and last for several months - but this sounds like a good way to actually clean it.
