Went driving interstate yesterday for a birthday party and towards the end of my 390km journey, driving through some dense forest/bushland on the highway, a big mofo of a kangaroo jumped out of no where and slammed into the passenger side of my car. I was probably doing about 100-105 km/h when it struck my car. My first thought was f***, MY CAR, and looking into the rear view mirror I could see that the roo hadnt survived. So, worried that my car was totally messed up (believe me, i felt guilt enough that I hit it but it wasn't as if it was intentional), I pull over, jump out and inspect the damage. Ummm, WTF, there was NO DAMAGE what so ever to the car. The left hand side indicator has fallen out and was hanging by its wire but I plugged that right back into position and it was as if nothing had happened to the car. I was well and truly impressed. This is Australia, hitting kangaroo's isn't exactly a rare thing to happen on remote highways in the bush, and most cars get seriously messed up, these animals weigh a tonne, and and its not uncommon for a car to be written off (or people killed) because the stupid things jump infront of headlights (something to do with the light hypnotizing them).

All I can say is the G is one well built car, any other car and I don't think I would have been as lucky.

Sounds like deer around here. I see dead ones all over the place at certain times of the year.

Glad the Z made it out OK this time

Glad you weren't hurt!!!!Are there any whistles that work with roos???We have some that that are supposed to work against deer. Some say that the cheap ones (like the ones I use) don't work.Have had them on all of my cars. The only deer we hit was with a pathfinder that I hadn't put them on yet.might be worth googling

I am glad you and your G is ok. I don't know if the whistle work on kangoroos. I tried on my previous car and works with the deer but the moose did not care. But worth to google and see if you can avoid the next one. I've seen moose vs. mini van. The moose walked away and the mini van was destroyed the driver died. G whizz probably remember it was in the news couple of years ago.

Again I am glad you and your G is ok.

I was going about 100-110km/h so thats about 65 m/hr.

Was a pretty big freaking kangaroo, was certainly no baby. I'm just so greatful for Meguires paint cleaner, I couldnt live without that stuff, when I got home I noticed there was a big smudge mark all the way from the passenger door all the way to the end of the car, but with alittle paint cleaner the mark is no more. Damn its good stuff.

Actually, they are not any different in that sense. The steel is all the same gauge, and stamped on the same machines.

I put those whistle things on my car once, but I accidentally installed them backwards... When I would drive, I'd have about 10 deer following me home... I think I should have turned them around to REPEL deer not ATTRACT Deer!

(Credit given to Steven Wright/Comedian for that joke)

LMAO, man and here I was complaining when I ran over a racoon a few years back in my Altima. I don't know if they have if for the G but there is a little device that you can put on your cars that will prevent deer from running out in front, check to see if there is anything for kangaroo's also. LOL I remember one of my friends hit a deer in his Explorer, the deers head flew off and hit his windshield.

There used to be a guy named Tom McCahill who wrote about automobiles for Mechanix Illustrated. He claimed to be the first in the the United States to perform road tests and publish his findings.

McCahill had a mail column in each issue. Readers would ask questions and McCahill would give (often wise ***) answers. One reader asked what would happen if a full size American car (e.g. 1960s Chevrolet Impala) with six passengers hit a cow broadside at 60 mph. McCahill replied that it would totally destroy the car and kill everyone in it. He then added, as an afterthought, "Be tough on the cow, too."

How would you compare the G35 to your Cobra as for speed and handling? I have a 96 cobra coupe, totally stock and am looking for something more practical and comfortable but don't want to give much on performance, alittle more would even be nice. I am looking at a 07 G35 sedan. I have only drove the G35 once with a salesperson. Seemed pretty good. How would you compare the two?
