having recently done this I might be able to give you some advice. There are a few things that you can "kill" to make your car not start. I decided to kill the ignition circuit. I spliced a switch into the ignition wire coming from the key. So if you try to start my car everything will work put the plugs will not fire. It helps to have an FSM wiring diagram for your car, lets you know what to cut. I bought a 50A automotive switch just to be safe, but that was probably overkill. On a side note, when I installed this switch it fixed my idle problem, WTF????? Anyway, you could also tap into the circuit for the clutch safety switch or the fuel pump too. But make sure you make an attempt to hide what you did. I didn't think about that when I did mine, and if someone took off the plastic panel under the steering column it would be painfully obvious what I did (I might try to go back and wrap with tape or something.) The location of the switch is important, and it was the hardest part of my install. I spent about 2 hours tryin to rig stupid thing in one place, then gave up and attached it with a radiator clamp somewhere else.

Also call your insurance people. Depending on what you kill, you can get a discount. With some companies in lieu of an alarm, with others, in addition to an alarm.

Can you tell me what wire you cut into. I see all the colors and was thinking the white one at the ignition switch as that is the one that gets power and then losses the power as the key is turned to start the engine.

I think that then would be the one sending a signal to the starter.Cheers

Here is a diagram of the wire I used. Either the black/white or the black/red wires should work fine to keep the key from starting the car. The black/white wire goes to the starting system, and is the same circuit that has the clutch interlock switch, so the engine wouldn't turn over. HOWEVER, if you kill the starting system there is a chance someone could still start the engine by push starting. The black/red wire goes to the ignition circuit, so the engine would attempt to start like normal, except the spark plugs won't spark (so push starting is a no-go). This circuit also has some funny stuff on it like the chime and the bulb check.

edit: man that is a huge pic, sorry

I may want to install one on my car soon. Car almost got stolen from the Target parking lot while I was working. 30 dollar crapola alarm was the wisest purchase I made last month.

I cut into the black and yellow wire at the ignition switch. My car is auto so that circuit lets the car still think its in drive and therefore will not start.Thanx for all the help,Cheers
