I went to the local drag strip to get a baseline run w/o the SR20. Just for kicks heres the slip (BONE stock with JDM LSD)

60ft 2.3736330 6.69291/8 10.2771 @ 68.561000 13.34861/4 15.9452 @ 87.02

(Accutime II: Ver 7.7.3 By Accutime Timing Systems)

My question is... do your local tracks require a kill switch if you have a battery relocation? They told me i needed one. I don't want to cut the car to mount it... i'm thinking of using the power antenni hole as my antenni is broken off anyway. Is that a legal place for it?

I"m in the same situation right now. Battery in the trunk, and I don't think they wanna let me race without a switch. Kinda sucks. Just put a small race battery up front, and run the wires off of it, and pretend that that is your battery. None will be the wiser. Of course unless they look in your trunk. ;)

Goodluck.

spark + fuel tank = bad.

I would recommend you just go to a junkyard and get a spare taillight, right or left, you don't need both, and drill a hole through it and mount the kill switch there. Then, when race day comes, you swap the taillight, run the lines for the kill switch, and pass through tech with no problem. Shouldn't take more than 10 or 15 minutes to do all that.

you mean a kill switch that fuel systems use, incase you get into an accident, it cuts power t the fuel pump?

Where can you get a switch like this (other than a dealership).

The Kill switch i believe they want just running to the battery. They said it is to shut the car off incase of an accident. If you disconnect the battery however nothing will happen because the car has an alternator... i don't understand that part either. I like the taillight idea... i might keep the light in my trunk when i'm not at the track... that way i wouldn't have to do any wiring changes for track day. Just bolt in the hacked light.

Or you can mount it behind your liscense plate, and just remove your plate at the track....

The antenna whole isnt a legal location...I dont know your local track rules but usually it has to be mounted on the rear of the vehicle, that wouldnt comply with their idea of the rear....

ill try and find a pic of mine

I gotcha.. If it were me.. I'd wire up a kill switch on a long lead.. then i'd hang it out hte hatch/trunk on trackday.

I used to run 14.3's in my CRX with the battery in the back and they didn't say anything. Now that i'm running 15.9's i guess it's just too fast. A pretty young dude just inhereted the track and it's kinda gone down hill as far as being anal about the cars is concerned. Hangin' it out won't do. Down here they think they have a REAL NHRA dragstrip... But i cna't complain too much most people don't have a track less than 5 minutes from their pad.

H8 is that the switch between the light and the tag or is it actuially in the tail light?

H8 doesn't that peice of metal wrap all the way around the car all the way up to the roof. I'm at work so i can't scope my car right now but i really don't want to cut into the metal. It's too bad about the antenni hole. I think my next look will be behind the tag... then i'll go with the tail light theory

No man, you just drill a hole there, into the trunk

Just thought of another place... how about the key hole for the trunk? can you set it up to come out there and still have the cable latch inside the car?
