Do you realize you posted the location of it on a public website, I hope you find a good place to put it

I thought one of the points of the kill switch was they were all supposed to be in the same place, back left, by the tail lights? Thats where I see them on all the muscle cars. Kinda makes sense too, if you crash on the track, the guys dont want to be running around like fools looking for your "hidden" kill switch.

I think the guy that made this thread, and everyone else posting in here, are talking more about a anti-theft 'kill switch.' So he can press it and have it hidden so if someone breaks into his car, they cant start it.

If you made it to be an anti-theft kill switch, I wouldn't have made it look so obvious. I maen, it's a red switch that looks like a racing kill switch, plastered on a black backing. That style of kill switch is meant for racing so if you have engine trouble, someone outside the car can easily turn your car off to keep it from causing more damage than necessary.

Also, for that purpose it needs to be up and in plain view. Easily identifiable. Most cars I see in SCCA sanctioned events have it on the hood.

If you want an anti-theft kill switch, do an ignition kill switch hidden somewhere in the cabin. There's been a lot of talk of using magentic reed switches to do just that. And to keep the kill switch from cooking my radio presets, I would do it up as an ECU cutoff. Preferably cut the power in, or the grounds out, of the ECU. It wouldn't be hard to set one up to cut the switched power to the EGI relay. The red/black wire that runs from the ECU to the EGI relay would be the perfect line to break as it isn't a high current line and it controls the EGI relay selenoid.

theres 2 purposes for kill switches: 1 for emergency safety kill, and 1 for anti-theft security. That location fails on both aspects, it might be too hidden for the emergency to find or its most likely the part that would crash first; and if its for security, its findable.

My idea is no different than you're setup in terms of the ECU. You're killing power to the whole car, which the ECU is included in that. All you do when you cut backup power to the ECU is erase anything it's learned. Which takes about a full 10 minutes of driving to regain. And trust me, without the EGI relay turning on, there ain't sh1t that's gonna run on the car no matter how much someone wishes for it to.
