So sue me. I hate telling these, coupled with the fact that 99.99% of the time I do not condone street racing/contests of speed. But some guys just deserve it.

My speedo dosen't work. My ghetto solution? Pick the most "safe" car in front me at match their speed from a safe distance (plus, this is the most safe way to drive anyway). Furthermore, I am usually really good about being tame and off boost in traffic. I am on a 4 lane F&M and I am following a Buick LeSabre that is piloted by a 50s gentleman. He turns off and I maintain the same speed. All of a sudden, I notice a car in my rear view that is moving faster than it should. I glance in my side mirror to see..

A new V6 Tiburon GT w/ chrome 17s and dual "carbon" cans. His hat is backwards and his girlfriend is in the passenger seat. I have my window down, and I am off boost in 5th. He roars by me. Hell no.

Drop to 3rd gear; full boost. Bofore I can count, 4th is needed and I am 3 cars ahead of him and pulling hard. I let off when I just begin to wind out 4th. I do hope that he got off it once he knew he was beat because if he didn't, I just emasculated him in front of his girlfriend. Being the polite type, I let them both know that I creamed him with a wave through the back window and my flashers. He stayed about 5 cars behind me for about 1 more mile, then tuned off without making any notion of getting next to me. I do think the best part is that I killed him in front of his lady

Hope he learned that cars that go *CHIRP*between shifts are not to be taken lightly

that was stupid of you. Did the guy challenge you by flying past you? You admitted you were driving like a retired florida resident, a young guy flew past you so you had to boost your uberness by blowing past him. Just to let him know that you are to be pheared.

I though most people on here were mature, but I guess I've found the exception.

That's definitly retarded. How fast the car is going has nothing to do with how fast it can go unless you guys are well over like well over the 100s, then slower cars will start having problems with top speed. But hell, I've never found a car that couldn't easily break 100. I see SUV's going faster than me on the highway all the time. It's just how much you care. I can't afford a speeding ticket so I drive slower than a lot of people. Sounds like you were more jealous, because it didn't sound like that guy cared about yor car at all. Also, how do you figure you killed him? It sounds like he kept constant speed while you floored it. That's like beating a parked car and saying you're some grand driver.

Pretty cool story. Nobody ever wants to race me. I get frustrated to when that stuff happens. I the samething happen when I was driving my freinds turboed 280Z. Sad thing is it only takes a gear or so to be at their rear bumper coming up fast too. At least he didn't give you the ricer fly by.

I usually agree, but IMO, a little freeway action is ok.

I'm highly unlikely to race anyone in town, but I'll straight up "whup yo a$$" on a relatively clear freeway.

hmm eh.. I usually don't street race, but once in awhile I'll have to put a ricer in his place ;]I hate people that go out for the sole purpose of picking races on the streets (they're usually the "street racers"), but like AZHitman said, a little fun on an open road is ok sometimes ;]

Well, the only reason I did this is if he is going to dish it out, he needs to be able to take it. You give a guy a definite blow by you should expect him to pick up chase. Just so happened that he didn't have the sauce to back his ante. So I taught him a little lesson with my uberness and boost, yes

Hell, on an empty country highway I might as well use that boost that I paid for.

i guess in a way it would be ok to show him up. so this way you can force the idiot who speed like he or she owns the road to slow down once they know for a fact that they were not fast to begin with (in this case, we know a tiburon have no chance to begin with so this make things super easy). of course this will result for the speed racer to feel shame and slow down. i'm just like most of you folks, i don't condone street racing but it's always fun to boost once in a while when the road is clear.

I understand the need to put your car through its paces, but where in your story does it say he challenged you? Was it the fact he had his hat on backwards, the chrome 17s, dual carbon cans or teh girlfried that made you know that your pimpness was in jeopardy?

Putting as much money as we sink into our cars, and not use them is a waste. But, use it wisely.

I'd say, if it's not in the middle of a residential area with kids around or a lot of cars, then use the power you got. No point in putting so much money into your car and just drive it like a KA... might as well stick with the NA KA.

If someone messes with me or show's off, I do not race period, but if it's on some back roads away from residential areas and few cars... or freeway, I'm punching it.

That's what tracks are for I just wish we had better Road Course tracks in North Texas. (If there are any I don't know of, I would love to know) I think there is a "Motorsports Country Club" nearby with a full length road course, but it's a country club with all the member fees and everything. Nothing I could afford.

I know the feeling though, most of the time I drive my car nice and calm. No need to tear it up, but other times I just need to let it fly.

MAXIMUS Nismo, like I said in my story:"I have my window down, and I am off boost in 5th. He roars by me. Hell no."

When he had no "reason" to do a fly by on an empty highway. Furthermore, if he wasn't wanting to box, then he should not have gotten on it when I downshifted. He made it abundantly clear that his intent was to show me up. I am used to this (I mean, I have an import with decals on it and a big exhaust...some folks can't tell a ricer from the real thing I guess) so I can tell when yahoos want me to bite. This time I did.

HAHAHA., I hate it when people come on here and get on their high horse. If you don't like racers then buy a Buick and read Buick forums. Most ppl into nissans like them due to their performance. It's just a fact.

Anyways cool, story. Nothing I enjoy more than smoking some chump in a honda with his girl

Why did you modify your 240 then? It would be hypocritical to say you did it for the sole purpose of track events.

Everyone likes to enjoy their cars.

I don't like when people assume because I am passing by them fast that I want to race them. I usually run those guys for miles until they screw up and almost crash just to prove a point. You look like the immature one in this story not the guy in the *blech!* Tiburon.

lol, kinda hard NOT to race on the 202 or i17 going through the valley of the sun. Traffic moves so fast there (not during peak hrs, but at night), and cops are few and far between. I'm an avid non-street racer, but at times I'd look down and go "oh damn, I'm going 90..." while going with the flow of traffic.

I would agree w/ you TMS if he had not* punched it when I did. He wanted to race. No body with fart cans and 17s wants to do a full on fly by and not want some action. But whatever. This is the first contest of speed I have done in my CA and it felt damn good.

I know what you are talking about. I was merging onto I-35 in the Dallas area in the morning once (out torwards Denton), and I throttled it at the bottom of the on-ramp. By the time I was on the highway I realised I was doing around 90.
