i just bought a hard pad was worth over 100 bux but WAY ****ING WORTH IT. The pad is like a piece of garbage you buy on a street corner for 2 dollors.

Anyone that still plays on soft pads like i use to no longer will i play on soft. Though.... i wonder how long these things last.

Don't the arcades use hard pads? Look at the traffic for those games and look how long they're down. Hardly if ever....

I doubt you'll be buying another pad for a while.

I been playing for 3 almost 4 years now. Broke a hard pad while in my socks. Cracked the button real good. I dislike them and only play in the arcade. I passed my first catta on a soft pad back in the day. :D

My experience with hard pads is they are made of thiner and cheaper plastic than the arcade. If you really wanna go Hardcore you should make your own pad using the arcade buttons. You can buy them online and what not.

So what level does everyone play at? I like to freestyle, though I am lame at it I love to footslide :D, so I never really attacked the 10 footers. I can so sakura but thats the only 10 footer. All the other songs are no problem usually.

Hard pads are always great. But, you might have wanted to give the RedOctane pads a look. You can usually find some selling fairly cheap on ebay. They're soft pads, but they're the best soft pads ever made. They hardly slip, and you get a real good feel for them. But hey, you have a metal pad already, so meh.

On a sidenote, if you enjoy DDR, I recommend you check out this site: http://www.aaroninjapan.comFeatures a gallery of like over 4500 AAA pictures, and some videos of people in Japan (Yasu and Take) AAAing Max 300, etc. O_O

lol nah. im not obsesed with DDR i just like playing it. But redoctane pads suck. The cheapy 20 dollors ones from wal mart are 10x better. Why you ask? becuase they last longer. I had a red octane pad for a year and the sensors broke. I had a cheapy one for 2 years and it finally busted.

I do a lot of footwork when I play so thats why I stoped playing at home. Also at the arcade I can play Pump which I find to be much more enjoyable and challenging than ddr. :D

exactly only if your into it. If your bored and sick of it you won't loose crap. When i was first really excited about it when it first came out for PS1 in japan i would play that crap everyday and on the weekends play for 8hrs straight. Almost got some stomic muscles it was nuts

I used to be really hardcore into it...had like a cult that I'd hang out with at the local arcade that I'd play DDR with on weekend nights and such. I've wasted too much money and time into that thing :( . But sure, DDR does a pretty good job of making your legs stronger.

i spent to much money in the arcade and at home for DDR. But as long as they produce games with good songs im still playing. Like the new max2 for ps2 is a good one in a long time. Konomix just sucked.

I liked Konomix. I bought it when it first came out it had a lot of good 4th mix songs on it, but was lacking in a lot of good songs only available at the arcade. Such as the Race and Wonderland.

bah, i guess. 4th mix i felt was better. It took a while for some good songs to come on started getting sick of the old ones remixed 5 times. Got annoying quick then max came out and it was all good :D

i forget which Mix it was 2nd or 3rd? Can't remember ..but I always liked the j-pop/k-pop songs

At my local malls there is like a range of kids 12-17 years old that totally own me and make my self-esteem shoot through the floor because they can a) DO a whole song backwards facing the crowd with max steps, b) routine doubles facing the crowd with a partner, and/or c) some random crazy dance moves I've never seen in my life. IT'S Crazy. I also get owned in Initial-D arcade by some fellow random 8 year old asian kid. Hurts a man's pride to get owned in such silly, fun games.

why does it hurt your pride? or your self-esteem? you feel bad that a little kid can beat you at a game that makes you feel like your driving a floating bumper car?

you feel bad on ddr becuase some kids can memorize the song and they don't even have to look. its cool to see dance moves on DDR but when they go backwards on maniac i don't even watch anymore becuase they just memorized the song. its not fun anymore.
