I have a 2001 Pathfinder and was working on it and letting my kid play inside. I bought it with out a remote key and at some point he did something that makes true alarm go off every time I open a door. If some one could help me get it off I would be VERY great full. The neighborhood would be grateful. I broke the wire going to the horn but there is one more behind the batterie and I thought better of cutting that one. Thank You in advance.

So I went out to dinner and came back. Forgot to say that the red blinking alarm light under the air vent had stopped blinking while the alarm was going off every time I opened the door. When I came home the red blinking light was back and no more alarm. Don't know why it reset or what happened to begin with. Any ideas would be great.

Should reset by inserting the key in the door, lock / unlock (with the key).

If not, put the key in the ignition.

Lastly, let's find out what kind of alarm is on the car - if it's factory, we can look in the factory manual and figure it out... if it's aftermarket, well, we can probably figure that out too.

Do a search on ebay and get a key fob for it - we'll show you how to program it.

AZhitman,
Thanks for the reply! I want to get a key fob but keep reading the 2001 has 2 different key fobs with the same number and not sure how to tell which one I need. I will check to see if I can tell but almost positive its a factory alarm. When it went off I can't remember if I tried the lock/unlock with key but I did get in and start it up. It started but every time I opened the door the alarm would go off again for about 2min. I drove the pathfinder around and kept opening/locking and unlocking the doors-kept setting the alarm off. Got frustrated and yanked the horn wire- realized there was another horn/alarm behind the batterie. I drove home locked up and let the alarm cycle one last time. Went to dinner and when I came home it appeared to reset- Red blinking light was back under the driver air vent. No more alarm when I open the door but searched alarm in forum and found lots of post about the alarm going off for no reason. Hope I can get a handle on it. Still working on my evap system and a check engine soon light- want to love the pathfinder but lots of crazy little problems. Runs and drives great.

I found out from the chart I need 5w500 but can't find that number on ebay. Also can't find that number on any of the pictures in the link so I'm a little confused still. Sorry to be a hassle

Can you provide the manufacturing date of your Pathfinder, found on the driver door jamb sticker?

The manufacturing date is 9/00. It looked to me like that would be 5W500 but I could not find that option on ebay or the pictures linked to the post you gave me a link to here. Thanks for the advise-looking forward to getting a remote and programing it so I can turn off the alarm if it goes off again.

Up to 8/2000 production uses Nissan P/N: 28268-2W601.
Production dates 8/2000 and up use Nissan P/N: 28268-2W602.

You will need the "A" fob, which corresponds to the number ending in '02' above.
