Lance, Datsun used different gears on the end of the speedometer cable to match the speedometer to the different rear axle ratios used in various cars and trucks. You might be able to use the speedo drive out of your old transmission, but do not count on it. The speedometer in my 521 has a calibration figure on it, that I found after I took it apart, xxxx rpm = 60 MPH. A speedometer service shop could check the calibration on the speedo. The speedo shop could also run the truck, and tell you if your speedo is right. You could also use, or borrow a handheld GPS unit, and check your speed that way. Do you have one, or do you have any hunting or fishing buddys that have a GPS? You can also check the speedo by using mile markers on a hiway, and a stop watch.
